Review: Girona Hotel Masia

The Girona Hotel Masia is a family-run complex that includes a hotel and apartments across the street. There’s a large outdoor swimming pool, and the hotel is only 5 minutes drive from the beach in the resort of L’Estartit, which is north of Girona town and about 1.5 hour drive from Girona airport. The hotel is surrounded by a backdrop of hills covered in pine trees.

Hotel Facilities

The hotel and apartments are set in 12,000m² of land. There’s a large pool, children’s play area, restaurant, laundry service, tennis court, they have their own dive centre, volley-ball court, 2 lounges (one with pool table), large outdoor terrace, bar, mature garden and parking.

The rooms in the hotel and the apartments are basic but comfortable. The apartments also come with a kitchenette, bathroom and dining area. Facilities inside all rooms include heating, TV, radio, phone, safe and in the hotel, an en-suite bathroom.

The Girona Hotel Masia is about 5 minutes drive from the sandy beach at L’Estartit. This resort is particularly popular with Dutch and English tourists. The area is also a popular site for divers, and there are several dive schools along the seafront. Most dives take place off a small group of islands called Illes Medes that are visible from the mainland.

The hotel and apartments are backed on one side by hills. 50 metres down the road is a burger bar, and if you turn right 50 metres past the hotel you’ll find a restaurant with Spanish food.

For cash points, tourist information and a few shops, head into the centre of L’Estartit, which is next to the beach.

How To Travel From The Airport To The Hotel

Via Taxi: A taxi from Girona airport to the Girona Hotel Masia will take about 1.5 hours and will cost approximately 100 euros.

Via Bus: You can take a bus from Girona airport to the bus station in Girona. From there you can take another bus, run by the company AMPSA. AMPSA have a ticket and information office inside the bus station. The bus from Girona airport is the ‘Barcelona Bus’ and it costs 2.05 euros for a single ticket.

Via Car: You can drive from Girona airport to L’Estartit in approximately 1.5 hours. Take the AP7 toll motorway and come off at exit 6 (salida / sortida 6). Follow the road in the direction of L’Estartit and Torroella de Montgri.

The Girona Hotel Masia is a complex that is ideal for families as there’s plenty to do for the kids and you’re near the beach. It’s a very reasonably priced place to stay and you have a choice of self-catering apartments or the hotel.
